When to book a vitamin deficiency test

Tiredness, low mood and brittle hair can have many causes. A simple at-home blood panel tells you whether a deficiency is one of them.

Vitamin D deficiency is common in the UAE despite the sunshine, because indoor routines and sunscreen limit exposure. Persistent tiredness, low mood, muscle aches or frequent illness are reasons to test rather than guess — supplementing blind can mean months on the wrong dose.

A basic panel covers vitamin D, B12, iron and ferritin. Book a test if symptoms have lasted more than a few weeks, if you follow a restricted diet, or if you are pregnant or planning to be. At-home collection makes this a thirty-minute appointment rather than a clinic visit.

Bring the results to a doctor or pharmacist before starting high-dose supplements. Correcting a genuine deficiency is usually straightforward, but dosing should follow the numbers, not the label on the largest bottle.
